QR Code Generator

Create a QR code from a URL or short text, choose the size and error correction, then download a PNG. Static codes, generated locally.

Higher correction survives more damage but fits less data.

What this tool creates

It turns a short piece of text into a QR code: a square image that a camera can scan. The most common use is a URL, but a QR code can hold plain text, a phone number, an email address, a Wi-Fi login or a contact card.

The code is generated in your browser and downloaded as a PNG. There is no account, no redirect service and no scan tracking. The QR code is static: it contains the text you entered, and it does not expire.

Choosing an error-correction level

QR codes include redundant data so they can still be read if part of the image is damaged or covered. Low correction fits more data; high correction is more robust but limits how much text you can encode.

  • Low (7%) for clean digital displays where space is tight.
  • Medium (15%) for most everyday uses. This is the default.
  • Quartile (25%) for printed material that may crease or get dirty.
  • High (30%) when the code may be partially covered or printed small.

Size and testing

A larger image is easier to scan, but what matters most is the printed size and the distance from the camera. For a poster or sign, print a test copy and scan it with more than one phone. Keep a quiet margin around the code and avoid placing it on a busy background.

Limits

A QR code can hold a limited amount of data. Long paragraphs and very long URLs may not fit. If the tool reports that the text is too long, use a shorter URL or a URL shortener run by a service you trust.

Privacy and permanence

Generation happens locally. The code is not uploaded and does not point to NelcByte. Because it is static, you cannot change the destination after printing; you would need to create a new code.

Questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They are static images that contain your text directly. They do not rely on a redirect service, so they keep working as long as the destination does.

Can I put a logo in the middle?

This tool does not add logos. You can edit the PNG in an image editor, but leave enough of the code visible. High error correction gives you more room for a small overlay.

Why is my QR code too dense?

More text means more modules. Shorten the value or choose a lower error-correction level. A shorter URL usually produces a cleaner code.

Is the QR code uploaded?

No. The image is drawn on a canvas in your browser and downloaded directly from your device.

Can I create a QR code for Wi-Fi or contact details?

The tool encodes text, so a URL or short text works best. Wi-Fi and vCard strings can be pasted if your scanner supports them, but this page does not build those formats for you.

What size should I choose for print?

Choose Extra large for the highest-resolution PNG, then test it at the intended print size. Keep the white margin around the code and do not stretch the image.
